Two kinds of Discord fonts
- Fancy Unicode letters, such as ππ²πΌπ¬πΈπ»π or ππ¦π°π π¬π―π‘, are separate characters that look like styled letters. They keep their look wherever you paste them: in messages, in your display name, in a server nickname and in your About Me.
- Discord markdown is formatting that Discord applies when you send a message. You type symbols around the text, such as
**bold**or||spoiler||, and Discord hides the symbols and formats the text. It works in messages. In a name, the symbols show as they are.
You can use both at once. For example, type cursive letters here, copy them, and put || on each side in Discord to hide them behind a spoiler.

Discord names and fancy fonts
Discord accounts have a username and a display name. The username is the unique handle, and it allows only lowercase letters, numbers, underscores and full stops, so fancy letters don't work there. The display name and server nicknames accept Unicode, so a Discord name font from this page works in both.
Fancy letters can be hard to read and hard to search for. If people need to find you or @mention you by name, keep at least part of the name in plain letters. Screen readers also read these characters badly.
