Small text generator
This tiny text generator, also called a little text generator, turns your text into small text in three styles: tiny superscript letters, small caps and subscript. Press Copy and paste it wherever you can type, such as a bio, a username or a comment.
The three small text styles
- Superscript (tiny text) uses the raised letters Unicode has for things like footnotes and phonetics, such as ᵗⁱⁿʸ. It is the smallest style. Most fonts have no raised capital C, F, Q, S, X, Y or Z, so the generator uses the small raised letter for those, and q uses a similar-looking character, ᑫ.
- Small caps uses capital-shaped letters at the height of lowercase ones, such as ᴛɪɴʏ ᴛᴇxᴛ. It is the easiest of the three to read.
- Subscript uses lowered letters, such as ₜₑₓₜ. Unicode only has lowered forms for a, e, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, r, s, t, u, v and x, so other letters stay plain.
Superscript and subscript also cover the digits 0 to 9. Small caps leaves digits as they are.
Why the text is small
Most apps don't let you change the text size. This generator works around that by swapping each letter for a different Unicode character that is drawn smaller. Because the result is plain text, it stays small when you paste it into Instagram, TikTok, Discord, X or a chat app.
Some phones and apps don't have every character in their fonts and show a box instead. Screen readers may read the characters by their Unicode names, so keep important words in normal letters.
For other styles, try the font generator. For exponents and chemical formulas, the superscript generator turns x^2 into x².
Frequently asked questions
How do I make small text to copy and paste?
Type your text in the box above and press Copy next to the style you want. Paste it anywhere you can type text.
What is tiny text?
Tiny text is text written with superscript Unicode letters, such as ᵗⁱⁿʸ. They are raised and smaller than normal letters, so the text looks tiny.
Why are some letters not small?
Unicode has no small version of every letter. Subscript has lowered forms for only 17 letters, so the other letters stay plain.
Does small text work on Instagram and TikTok?
Usually yes, because the letters are plain Unicode characters. Some older phones show boxes for characters their fonts don't include.
Is the small text generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and has no limit.
