What is in the files
- Page size: US Letter (8.5 × 11 inches), portrait.
- Text: a title on the first page, a "Page N of M" heading on every page, lorem ipsum paragraphs and a footer. The text is real, selectable text, so search, copy and text extraction work.
- Font: Helvetica, one of the standard fonts every PDF reader has, so no font is embedded.
- Images: in the "images" files, each page has a different colour picture of 360 × 180 pixels, stored as a compressed RGB image.
- Format: PDF 1.4 with no JavaScript, forms, links, attachments, passwords or encryption.
The files are small on purpose, so they upload quickly. Each page of the "images" files has its own picture, so you can check that a viewer or converter keeps the images on every page.
Ways to use a sample PDF
- Test a file upload: the accepted file type, the size limit and the progress bar.
- Test a PDF viewer or a preview thumbnail, including how it pages through 100 pages.
- Test a PDF tool, such as a merger, splitter, compressor, OCR tool or PDF-to-Word converter.
- Try a printer or a print dialog without wasting a real document.
- Use as a stand-in attachment in an email template or a demo.
