Sample JSON files
Download a sample JSON file to test a parser, an API mock, an import or a chart. Every file is valid JSON with made-up people, products and orders, and every email address uses the reserved example.com domain.
| File | What it holds | Size |
|---|---|---|
| user.json | One object with a nested address | 0 KB |
| users.json | An array of 25 user objects | 9 KB |
| products.json | An array of 50 products, each with an array of tags | 9 KB |
| orders.json | 20 orders, each with a nested customer and an array of items | 12 KB |
| users-1000.json | An array of 1,000 users | 345 KB |
| user.schema.json | A JSON Schema (draft 2020-12) that the user objects match | 1 KB |
You can also load the files by URL, for example https://lorem.space/sample-json/users.json, to test code that fetches JSON.
Sample JSON object
This is the whole of user.json. Every user in the other files has the same fields:
{
"id": 1,
"first_name": "Diego",
"last_name": "Silva",
"email": "[email protected]",
"phone": "555-0132",
"birth_date": "1965-04-15",
"address": {
"street": "8118 Park St",
"city": "Riverton",
"state": "WY",
"zip": "82501"
},
"signup_date": "2026-04-29",
"active": true
}
Sample JSON array
A JSON array holds values in square brackets, separated by commas. users.json is an array of objects, and each product in products.json has an array of strings:
[
{
"id": 1,
"sku": "SKU-1001",
"name": "Notebook (black)",
"category": "Stationery",
"price": 4.5,
"in_stock": 23,
"tags": [
"new",
"popular"
]
},
{
...
]
orders.json shows deeper nesting: each order has a customer object and an items array of objects, which is the shape most API responses take.
Sample JSON Schema
A JSON Schema describes which fields a JSON document must have and what type each one is. user.schema.json requires id, the two names and email, and checks that the ZIP code has five digits. Use it to test a validator, or to see how a schema for a real object is written.
What is in the data
- Format: UTF-8, pretty-printed with two-space indents, with a line break at the end of the file.
- Types: strings, integers, decimals, booleans, nested objects and arrays. There are no
nullvalues. - Dates: ISO 8601 strings such as
2025-03-14. - People: made-up names, emails at example.com, and phone numbers from 555-0100 to 555-0199, a range kept for fiction.
- Same every time: the files are built from a fixed random seed, so a test that reads them always gets the same values.
For CSV versions of the same kind of data, see the sample CSV files. For your own fields, use the fake data generator.
